A grand jury indicted Odell Calvin, 36, with attempting to bring marijuana into a prison.
CHICAGO, IL — A Cook County Jail inmate is accused of trying to smuggle marijuana into the prison after the contraband had allegedly been left for him in an inmate-only hospital bathroom, according to the Cook County Sheriff's Office. Odell Calvin, 36, was indicted by a Cook County grand jury Tuesday and charged with attempting to bring pot into a prison.
According to the sheriff's office, Cook County correctional officers discovered a package with about 6 grams of a substance believed to be pot in an inmate-only bathroom at the hosptial. The package allegedly was slipped under the bathroom door by David Fuller, a 27-year-old Chicago man on parole following an aggravated battery conviction, the sheriff's office said.
An investigation found that Fuller allegedly had left the pot for Calvin, who had been at the Stroger Hospital for an appointment that day. Authorities claim he had planned to bring the marijuana to the jail.
