CHICAGO — Chicago Police 8th District tactical officers took three dangerous weapons equipped with extended magazines and switches off the street this past weekend. One of the guns was seized during a street takeover, police said,

A traffic stop conducted Jan. 3 revealed that the 26-year-old male driver was in possession of a 9mm handgun. The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office approved felony unlawful use of weapon charges.

Tactical officers also recovered a gun with an extended magazine during a traffic stop on the 6100 block of Tripp Avenue. Felony charges were approved for aggravation unlawful use of weapon.

Police said officers took a gun equipped with a switch from a driver who was participating in a street “take over” at 59th Street and Western Avenue. Officers curbed a vehicle and observed 9mm rounds in plain view. Felony charges were approved for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful use of a weapon-machine gun.
