ST. CHARLES, IL — A man shot at two dogs, fatally striking one, and told police the animals were aggressively blocking the path from his boat dock, officials announced Thursday evening.

Police responded to the call of shots fired on the 5N600 block of Pearson Drive in Wayne. The man's neighbor, who is the owner of the two dogs, told police she was swimming in the river with her pets when her neighbor began shooting at them.

The man said he fired multiple shots from his handgun because the dogs were on his property and aggressively blocking the way into his home, police said.
