After 2-Year Hiatus, Kane Co. Earth Day Tree Planting Returns

The Forest Preserve District of Kane County is looking for volunteers to plant trees at Elburn Forest Preserve in Elburn.

KANE COUNTY, IL — After a two-year hiatus, the Forest Preserve District of Kane County is planning to bring back its Earth Day tree-planting event.

Volunteers are needed to help plant trees on the east side of Elburn Forest Preserve, at 1N750 Read Street, Elburn, on Saturday, April 23, at 9 a.m. The forest preserve district plans to plant hundreds of trees in a few hours, and is looking for as many helpers as possible.

Holes will be pre-dug, and volunteers will just need to plant the tree, tamp down dirt, add water and mulch. Those stopping out are asked to arrive promptly at 9 a.m. bring

Planting will continue until all trees are in the ground or 12 p.m. — whichever comes first, according to the news release.

This volunteer opportunity is perfect for individuals or groups, families, scouts, youth groups or other organizations. You’re welcome to plant a single tree, or stay and plant as many as you like.
