Blue Goose Market CEO Cleared To Run For St. Charles City Council

ST. CHARLES, IL — The race is on to represent St. Charles’ Third Ward after Blue Goose Market president and CEO Paul Lencioni successfully fended off a challenge Monday, the Kane County Chronicle reports.

City Clerk Charles Amenta, who is facing off against Lencioni to represent the St. Charles’ Third Ward, filed an objection last month to Lencioni’s nominating petitions because Blue Goose Market holds a liquor license.

Illinois law allows aldermen and mayors to hold liquor licenses within the city they serve, but St. Charles’s city code prohibits it.

Amenta’s objection set up a St. Charles Electoral Board meeting Monday, where the board’s three members unanimously voted to dismiss Amenta’s objection because it was incomplete, the report states.

Amenta can file a petition for judicial review in Kane County court until the end of the week, according to the report.

Amenta has raised questions about Lencioni’s eligibility to hold public office, but Mayor Ray Rogina, who leads the city’s Electoral Board, said Lencioni’s qualifications for office would be decided by voters in April, the Kane County Chronicle reports.
