Fast Facts: Prior to the split of St. Charles High School into two campuses, the Saints were the gold standards in the state of Illinois for girls soccer. From 1990-2000, the Saints won eight state championships. Since being divided into East and North, neither team has won a state title, but each continue to be among the most feared programs in the state. The 2015 season is no different. St. Charles East started the season 15-0 before losing a 3-1, double-overtime, decision in the semifinals of the Naperville Invitational on May 1. The Saints were the runners up in Class 3A last year and have earned the No. 1 seed in the Class 3A Schaumburg Sectional. A wealth of college talent, which is nothing new for either program, leads the way. Forwards Cunningham (Washington University-St. Louis) and Jendrzejczyk (Wingate), midfielder Santo Paulo (St. Cloud State) and defenders Mollenhauer (Wisconsin-Milwaukee) and Smith (Wisconsin-Oshkosh) are all headed to play at the next level. St. Charles North has won three state trophies in its existence under Coach Ruth Vostal, who was a former star at St. Charles in the 1990s. The North Stars have won eight straight games, including the Tournament of Champions in Iowa last weekend. Parrilli (DePaul) and Stitz (Lewis) both have college slots locked up.
