Coroner IDs Campton Hills Man Killed In Fiery, Rollover Crash Near St. Charles

The collision happened Tuesday morning at Silver Glen Road and Old Homestead Road in St. Charles Township.

KANE COUNTY, IL — The Kane County Coroner's Office has identified a 63-year-old Campton Hills man who was killed in a rollover collision near St. Charles on Tuesday.

Francesco Sarnelli died in the single-vehicle crash, which happened at about 8:10 a.m. at Silver Glen Road and Old Homestead Road in St. Charles Township, according to a news release from the Kane County Sheriff's Office.

His preliminary cause of death is multiple traumatic injuries, according to the coroner's office.

Authorities believe the collision happened when a 2008 blue pickup truck was headed east on Silver Glen Road when it went off a curve in the road while traveling at a high rate of speed, according to the news release. The truck rolled over before coming to a stop.

Emergency responders found Sarnelli, who sustained critical injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
