District 303 Looks At Repurposing Schools
St. Charles Unit District 303 is looking at ways to provide smaller class sizes and handle shifts in its student population.
ST. CHARLES, IL — St. Charles Unit District 303 officials are looking into repurposing two schools, the Fox Ridge Early Childhood Center and Lincoln Elementary School, as the local school district looks at handling overcrowding and ways to decrease class sizes.
Administrators with St. Charles Unit District 303 are considering using Lincoln Elementary School for administrative office space with little student programming offered at the school, and Fox Ridge Early Childhood Center could be repurposed as an elementary school, according to the Kane County Chronicle. Early childhood programming could be moved to the Haines Center.
The changes could take effect in the 2024-25 school year and are meant to address "hot spot" areas in the district where growth is expected in the coming years. District 303 is also in the process of changing its space standards at its schools, which will calls for smaller class sizes and will impact the shifts in where students will attend its schools.
