ST. CHARLES, IL — A server at a St. Charles IHOP rang in 2020 with one of her favorite celebrities seated in her section, and another surprise to come. According to the Daily Herald, 38-year-old Bethany Provencher, from Elgin, has been working at the restaurant for two months, when she found herself serving New Kids on the Block singer and actor Donnie Wahlberg and his wife, actress and TV personality Jenny McCarthy. Provencher grew up listening to the boy band, and has attended a couple of the band's concerts, but didn't mention she knew who the two — sitting in front of her on New Year's Day — were, the Daily Herald said.

The news report said that while the famous pair were leaving, Wahlberg handed Provencher the folded receipt for their $78 meal and said, "Open it when we leave." When Provencher eventually glanced at the couple's bill, she saw "$2,020" written on the tip line.

Provencher, a single mother, told the Daily Herald she is really appreciative and wishes she could thank them for real. In addition, this was "the greatest blessing" she could've received from anyone, as she and her child recently moved to the suburbs from the Miami area.
