Fox Valley Candidates To Outline Platforms During Online Forums

The St. Charles Chamber of Commerce is hosting a series of virtual candidate forums to help voters learn more about their campaigns.

ST. CHARLES, IL — Each week in September, the St. Charles Chamber of Commerce is set to host virtual sessions for candidates to make their pitches and for voters to question those seeking their support.

The Chamber’s “Meet the Candidates Online Forum Series” will feature candidates for U.S. Congress as well as seats in the Illinois Senate and House of Representatives.

U.S. Rep. Lauren Underwood (D-Naperville) and Republican challenger Jim Oberweis, who represents much of the Fox Valley in the Illinois Senate, are set to participate in a forum that starts at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1.

Democratic State Rep. Karina Villa and Republican Jeanette Ward, who served on the School District U-46 board, are vying to replace Oberweis in the State Senate. They are due to participate in a forum starting at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 9, according to the Chamber’s schedule.

Republican State Rep. Dan Ugaste and Democratic challenger Martha Paschke are scheduled to speak at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 17, while Republican State Rep. Keith Wheeler and Democratic challenger Kate Monteleone are scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Sept. 29.

Laura Curtis, a Republican trustee in North Aurora, and Maura Hirschauer, a former elementary school teacher and community activist from Batavia, are vying to take over from Villa to represent the state’s 49th House District. They are scheduled to speak at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 30.
