How Much Snow Will Fall In St. Charles?
A winter weather advisory will be in effect in Kane County from 8 p.m. Tuesday through 6 p.m. Wednesday.
ST. CHARLES, IL — The St. Charles area could see up to five inches of snowfall during an upcoming winter storm, according to Tuesday morning weather reports.
A winter weather advisory will be in effect from 8 p.m. Tuesday through 6 p.m. Wednesday for Kane, DeKalb and northern Cook counties. Between 1 to 5 inches is expected for towns under the advisory, including St. Charles, and drivers should plan for slippery roadways during the Wednesday morning and evening commutes.
The heaviest snow is expected to fall between 1 a.m. and 1 p.m. Wednesday in St. Charles, according to National Weather Service hourly forecast models for St. Charles.

A sharp snowfall gradient is expected across the Chicago metro area, with the southern portion of the suburbs expected to get much more snow than the north suburbs, the weather service said. The Joliet area could see up to a foot of snow, with accumulation tapering off to less than an inch of snow for the north suburbs, according to the weather service.
A second round of snow is possible through mid-afternoon on Thursday, but the majority of snow will occur with the first round of snow Wednesday, according to the weather service.

People who must travel Tuesday night through Wednesday should be aware of the forecast and check road conditions. Area closings will be posted to the Emergency Closing Center website.
