Dec. 17, 2017, Foster went inside a business in Sugar Grove to look for his former wife, and approached her and attacked, evidence showed.

SUGAR GROVE, IL — A Kane County judge has sentenced an Indiana man to 80 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for trying to kill his ex-wife two years ago at her workplace in Sugar Grove. According to a news release from the Kane County State's Attorney's office. Kane County Circuit Judge Donald Tegeler, Jr., convicted 50-year-old Kennrith L. Foster, of the 4000 block of Alder Street in East Chicago, IN, on Oct. 22 to prison for the felony offenses of attempted first-degree murder, armed robbery, armed violence, aggravated battery with a firearm, aggravated domestic battery, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, the state's attorney's office said. Foster waived his right to a jury trial, and was recently sentenced to prison, according to the news release.
Kane County Assistant State’s Attorneys Greg Sams and Hillary Sadler presented evidence that around 3 a.m., Dec. 17, 2017, Foster went inside a business in the 300 block of Sugar Grove Parkway to look for his former wife, the news release said. He went up to her, put a handgun to her head and fired a single shot, hitting her in the head, according to the state's attorney's office. Foster then beat, strangled and stomped on her before leaving the area, officials said, adding that the FBI arrested him 11 days later in Phoenix, Arizona.
“I hope this victim finds justice in this sentence, and relief in the knowledge that Mr. Foster will be spending the rest of his life behind bars," Kane County State’s Attorney Joe McMahon said, in the news release. "My thanks to ASAs Sams and Sadler, and to the Sugar Grove Police Department, for their hard work in this case.”
