Involuntary Transfers Of D303 Teachers Spur Protests
District 303 officials have decided to transfer nine teachers as a way to keep consistent teacher-to-student ratios across its schools.

ST. CHARLES, IL — Several high school students upset over the involuntary transfers of two longtime St. Charles North High School English teachers gathered to protest the decision Monday.
The teachers who will be transferred to middle and elementary schools with District 303, Alice Froemling and Brian Callahan, are among nine teachers chosen for transfers by school officials, according to a Kane County Chronicle article. Superintendent Paul Gordon said the move is meant to ensure the long-term financial stability of District 303 and keep consistent student-to-teacher ratios.
A group of more than 20 people protested the decision to transfer the longtime teachers — Froemling has taught at St. Charles North for 14 years and Callahan has been there 15 years —outside the Haines Center during a District 303 school board meeting on Monday, according to the article.
