Kane County Flood Warning Includes Fox River In St. Charles

The warning, issued by the National Weather Service, is in effect until Saturday, June 1.

KANE COUNTY, IL — The National Weather Service Chicago issued a flood warning Tuesday morning throughout Kane County and several other Chicago area counties. The flood warning continues for the Fox River at Montgomery, or from Red Gate Road in St. Charles downstream to Millington, until Saturday morning, June 1, according to the NWS.

The flooded river was at 13 inches Tuesday morning, according to the NWS, insinuating the start of minor lowland flooding near the river. The river will continue to fall below flood level by Saturday morning.

The Kane County area is also included as part of a hazardous weather outlook happening Tuesday and Tuesday night. According to the NWS, the outlook is for North Central Illinois, Northeast Illinois and Northwest Indiana, and includes a significant thunderstorm risk with an elevated hail risk (up to the size of a quarter), risk of elevated damaging winds (up to 60 mph) and a risk for elevated flooding.
