Liquor License Could Keep Blue Goose Market CEO From City Council

ST. CHARLES, IL — Blue Goose Market chief Paul Lencioni’s campaign for St. Charles City Council could come to an early end next week, with public officials barred from holding a liquor license in the city.

City Clerk Charles Amenta, who is facing off against Lencioni to represent the city’s Third Ward, filed an objection to Lencioni’s nominating petitions because Blue Goose Market sells liquor, according to the Kane County Chronicle.

That objection will be heard Monday morning by the St. Charles Electoral Board, made up of Mayor Ray Rogina and Aldermen Dan Stellato and Art Lemke. A maximum of 10 people will be allowed to attend the hearing, though residents can watch through Zoom.

Illinois law allows aldermen and mayors to hold liquor licenses within the city they serve, but they cannot vote on alcohol-related issues, the report states.
