Mosser Takes Over Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office

Jamie Mosser was sworn in Monday as Kane County State's Attorney, replacing Joe McMahon, who held the office for 10 years.

KANE COUNTY, IL — Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie Mosser was sworn in to her new position Monday, less than a month after claiming victory in her race against Republican Robert Spence.

Mosser, of North Aurora, declared victory on Election Night after receiving a concession call from Spence, of Batavia. By the time all votes were counted, Mosser picked up 49.4 percent of the vote to Spence’s 46.36 percent.

Mosser brings with her a decade of experience working within the Kane County State's Attorney's Office. She served as a prosecutor in New Orleans for several years before her stint in Kane County.

After leaving the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office in 2015, Mosser worked in private practice and helped survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault as part of the team at Prairie State Legal Services.

She took over as Kane County State’s Attorney from Joe McMahon, who ran the office for 10 years. He did not seek re-election.
