Phone Scam Warning From Kane County Sheriff's Office

What the sheriff's office said is being reported about these "strange" phone calls.

KANE COUNTY, IL — The Kane County Sheriff's Office announced Wednesday they've received reports of people getting "strange" phone calls from the sheriff's office. During the call, the suspect states the victim has an active case with multiple warrants out for their arrest, and then tells the victim they can pay for the warrants over the phone with a credit/debit card and/or a gift card, the sheriff's office said.

The sheriff’s office advises community members they will never call and take payments over the phone, and instead will arrange for you to come into the office, or have one of the warrant deputies come to you.

The sheriff's office also said to please be advised that there isn't a Detective Clay Walker at the office, and asks anyone who receives any of these described phone calls to please not respond to them, do not call them back, or give them any kind of information.
