Recent St. Charles North Grad, Baseball Player Remembered By Teammates
Kevin White, 19, of St. Charles was killed in a two-vehicle crash last week.

ST. CHARLES, IL — A recent St. Charles North High School grad and standout baseball player is being remembered for his humble, supportive and loving personality. Kevin White died on Aug. 16 in a two-vehicle crash at Red Gate Road and Randall Road in St. Charles Township.
White, 19, played three years on the St. Charles North varsity baseball team. John Lambert, a 2019 St. Charles North grad, first met the infielder and pitcher during their 2018 season, which was White's junior year, according to the Kane County Chronicle.
"The first thing I had noticed ... how humble and supportive he was for having such a high level of talent," Lambert, who now pitches at Southwestern Illinois College, told the newspaper. "He embodied this lovable personality that allowed him to make friends with anyone."

White was the team's "glue guy," and besides his walk-off hits and diving plays, he was also a great teammate.
"Kev was the guy that never said no to getting extra work in," former teammate Nick DeMarco, a Notre Dame sophomore, told the Kane County Chronicle. "It was always 'yes sir, no sir' with respect that he meant. I can't remember a time he didn't have a smile on his face or was making someone else laugh. I'm certain that wherever his life would have taken him he would have been successful and continued to make people smile and change lives for the better."

A funeral was held Saturday for White at Yurs Funeral Home. White loved children and his family is requesting any donations people wish to make in memory of White be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital (ID# 23065707).
White was a passenger in a 2009 grey Chevrolet Malibu that was hit by a 2016 silver Toyota Sienna at about 3 p.m. on Aug. 16 at Red Gate Road at Randall Road in St. Charles Township. The car's driver, Mason Koffenberger, 20, of St. Charles, was seriously injured in the crash, and both Koffenberger and White were taken to Delnor Hospital following the collision.
White died at the hospital, authorities said.
Authorities say the Toyota turned left in front of the Chevrolet, causing the collision. The driver of the Toyota, Frank Morales, 74, of Elgin, was treated and released at the scene. He received a citation for failure to yield, according to the news release.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash and its unclear at this point if alcohol or drugs played a factor in causing the collision. Anyone who witnessed the crash or has any information regarding the crash is asked to call the Kane County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division at 630-444-1103.
