Scrub Top With Newborn's Footprints Found By St. Charles Man
The St. Charles man found the special scrub top at the end of December on a St. Mary's park bench, and hopes to find its owner.

ST. CHARLES, IL — A St. Charles man hopes to find the owner of a hospital scrub top marked with newborn baby footprints he recently found on a local park bench. On Dec. 28, David Malecek posted photos of the adult-sized Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital scrub top in the What's Happening in St. Charles? Facebook group, and said he saw the folded top on the Debbie Johnson park bench in St Mary’s Park. According to comments on the post, Malecek spoke with a labor and delivery nurse at the hospital, who told him there isn't a way to match the footprints to the newborn, and suggested he call the City and park district to see if anyone called asking for the shirt.
According to comments under the post, hospitals give the footprint-stamped tops to new parents as a keepsake. Therefore, many people including Malecek, wonder the story behind this one being left on the park bench. Malecek's post has been shared over two-dozen times.
After doing what the nurse suggested, Malecek updated group members two days later by commenting on his original post, "No one has called parks or police. Since no crimes have been reported in that area related to the gown the police would not hold it as evidence, and would just throw it away. I will hold onto the gown to see if anyone claims it."
