Slick Roadways Expected Monday, Tuesday Mornings: NWS
A winter weather advisory will be in effect Monday and Tuesday mornings.
MCHENRY, LAKE AND KANE COUNTIES, IL — Slippery roadways could affect the morning commute in the Chicago area Monday morning.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for counties throughout the Chicago area, including Lake, McHenry and Kane counties, which will be in effect through noon Monday.
A wintry mix with a glaze of ice is expected Monday morning. A second winter weather advisory will take effect at midnight Monday and will remain in effect through noon Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

During the second advisory, total ice accumulations — which will include snow and sleet — of up to one inch is expected.
Weather officials are urging drivers to slow down and use caution while on the roads.
