Snowfall Totals: Historic April Snowstorm Slams Northern Illinois
More than 8 inches of snow fell in some towns hardest hit by Sunday's snowstorm. It was Chicago's snowiest April 14 in history.
ILLINOIS — More than 8 inches of snow fell in St. Charles Sunday, exceeding National Weather Service predictions, as a mid-April snowstorm slammed the Chicago area. A pocket of 6 to 8 inches of snow fell across parts of Kane, McHenry and Dekalb counties, according to the National Weather Service. As of 6 p.m., 8.3 inches of snow had fallen in St. Charles, 8 inches was recorded in Sycamore, 7.5 inches in Huntley, 5.9 inches in Campton Hills and 5.8 inches in Fox Lake.

Total snowfall in Joliet was 2.4 inches, and as of Monday morning, 5.3 inches of snow had fallen at O'Hare airport, making Sunday "the snowiest April 14th in Chicago's history, and the second snowiest this late in the season," according to the National Weather service. In 1961, 5.4 inches of snow fell on April 16 at O'Hare in the snowiest late-season storm ever.
High temperatures in the 50s are in the forecast for Monday while temps could hit the 70s on Tuesday.
