St. Charles Considers State's Max Fine For Fighting In City
City officials are considering amending its city code to enact a $750 fine for those busted for fighting.

ST. CHARLES, IL — City officials are considering raising the fines for fighting in St. Charles to the state's maximum — $750 — in response to instances where parties involved in the altercation do not want to file complaints with local police.
Shaw Local News Network is reporting the city's government committee approved the amendment during a Nov. 6 meeting, and the city council is expected to make a final vote on the measure on Nov. 20.
As part of the proposed city code, fighting or inciting a fight in public would be prohibited and could result in citations, according to the article. St. Charles Police Chief James Keegan is recommending the updated code and the higher fine, according to the article.
