St. Charles North Debates Fixes for Football Field
The school board discussed options Monday for installing a $1 million artificial, turf field at the school.

ST. CHARLES, IL - St. Charles District 303 school board members all agree that fixes need to be made to the football field at St. Charles North Board High School but the board was deadlocked Monday night on how they should move forward with fixing it, according to the Daily Herald.
There are currently two options on the table. The first scenario would have the St. Charles North boosters raising half the $1 million needed to put in a new, artificial turf field with the district fronting the rest. The boosters would be responsible for paying $400,000 for a replacement field in 10 years, which is the typical lifespan of artificial turf fields, according to the Daily Herald. The second scenario envisions the boosters fund-raising effort bringing in two-thirds of the cost for the field with the school district covering the final ⅓ of the cost and paying to replace the field in 10 years.
The school board on Monday could not agree on whether to allow the boosters, which hoped to sell advertising to area businesses to raise money for the field, to erect advertisements along Red Gate Road with some board members also expressing a desire to use grass instead of turf on the football field, according to the article.
