St. Charles Photographer, Photo Restorer Opens New Gallery

A St. Charles photographer and photo restorer has moved his restoration business out of his City home and into a new gallery in Geneva at 227 S. Third St., where he specializes in restoring extremely old photos back to display condition, the Kane County Chronicle reports. 

According to the paper, Patrick McGleam, 58, has run McGleam Studios out of his St. Charles home for 15 years, using his Photoshop skills to retouch photos of both famous people (like one of Harold Washington and Desmond Tutu) and families.

For one man who had a 30-year-old picture of his parents, taken before the client’s mother died and the client and his sisters were put up for adoption, McGleam was able to find all three siblings in what originally appeared to just be a husband and wife photo, the paper said. 

“We were both in tears when I handed him the picture… To him, it was priceless,” McGleam told the paper.

“Almost everything I get is either one-of-a-kind or 100 years old, and that’s no exaggeration… I’m hoping to become the guy people come to in the western suburbs.”
