St. Charles, April 20 - The Norris Cultural Arts Center's Spring season of "Wednesdays @ One" events concludes May 1 with a presentation at the Baker Community Center by author and educator Jerome M. O'Conner. His program, "Chicago and the Home Front in WWII," will include O'Connor's private collection of rare WWII defense posters.

O’Connor, author of The Hidden Places of World War II, will describe a once-in-history accomplishment through rare then-to-now images of some of over 1,400 Chicago area industries that converted from producing consumer goods to war manufacturing. The posters that O'Connor will display were originally in plants, post offices, libraries, and offices throughout the country.

The timing of the program aligns with the 80th anniversary of D-Day, the consequential Allied invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944. Admission to the event is free, but attendees are asked to register online.
