West Chicago Man Held On $1M Bond After Chase, Standoff

A man wanted on a $1 warrant out of LaSalle County was arrested after a two-hour standoff on Jan. 3, Kane County Sheriff Hain said.

KANE COUNTY, IL — A man wanted on a $1 million warrant out of LaSalle County drove away from Kane County Sheriff's office deputies Friday at Route 47 and Jericho Road in Sugar Grove Township, leading authorities on a chase that ultimately ended LaSalle County, according to the sheriff's office. Joshua Lee Grote, 40, from West Chicago, was spotted by Kane County deputies at 3:15 p.m. Friday, the Daily Herald reported. Grote was wanted in LaSalle County for delivery of a controlled substance and ignored deputies who were trying to stop him, the news report said.

Grote drove from authorities through southern Kane County, Kendall County and into LaSalle County, the sheriff's office said. The sheriff's office added that he pulled over in the 4700 block of E. 23rd Road near Sandwich, but stayed in his car while declaring he had a firearm, the Daily Herald reported.

Grote was arrested after a two-hour standoff, Kane County Sheriff Hain said. His court date is listed as Jan. 24, and his bond is listed as $1 million, according to the LaSalle County Sheriff's office website.

Other law enforcement agencies including LaSalle County Sheriff's office assisted Kane County deputies Friday.
