'Wild Boar To Baconfest' Coming To St. Charles This Weekend
The free program will include a lecture by Cynthia Clampitt, who will present the history of pigs and pork.

ST. CHARLES, IL — The Kane County Forest Preserve District is hosing a "Wild Boar to Baconfest" from 9:30 to 11 a.m. June 28 at the Barbara Balding Lodge in St. Charles.
The free program will include a lecture by Cynthia Clampitt, who will present the history of pigs and pork, with a focus on the Midwest, according to a news release. Pigs were the first food animals to be domesticated, and their history with humans dates back more than 12,000 years.
However, antiquity is just one of the reasons why pork is the most eaten meat in the world, forest preserve district officials said.
