Scammers Posing As DuPage Sheriff's Deputies With Warrants

The DuPage County Sheriff's Office is warning residents about a recent phone scam involving fake warrants.

DUPAGE COUNTY — A recent scam has seen scammers posing as deputies from the DuPage County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) calling about a warrant, according to an alert from DCSO.

The scammers may pretend to be current or ex-deputies who say there is an outstanding warrant for your arrest. They then inform their target that the warrant can be cleared via the purchase of gift cards, a news release said.

DCSO is urging residents to stay vigilant, reminding that they will not call to ask for money. Anyone in unincorporated DuPage County who has received such a scam call is encouraged to call 630-407-2400 to report the incident.
