WHEATON, IL — Crimes surged at the start of June in Wheaton, according to the city's most recent police blotter. Officers responded to reports of retail thefts, car and home burglaries, counterfeit cash and other incidents.

Van Burglarized in 900 Block of East 22nd Street

Someone broke into a van in the 900 Block of East 22nd Street and stole tools valued at $3,000. The burglary took place sometime between 4 p.m. on June 2 and 7 a.m. on June 3.

Garage Burglarized in 300 Block of Whirlaway Court

A resident told police someone entered their garage sometime between 10:30 p.m. on June 3 and 7 a.m. on June 4 and stole tools.

Retail Theft at Ulta

A woman came into the Ulta store on Danada Square West around 6:23 p.m. on June 5 and stole cosmetics, according to police.

Retail Theft at Kohl's

Police say a man came to the Kohl's at 401 S. County Farm Rd. and put "multiple fragrance items" into a bag before leaving the store without making payment. The incident took place around 6 p.m. on June 5.

Counterfeit Cash Presented at Famous Footwear

On June 2, a man used counterfeit $100 bills to pay for items at Famous Footwear, 124 Danada Square West.

Counterfeit Cash Presented at Target

On June 7, a man used counterfeit $100 bills to buy items at Target, 601 S. County Farm. Rd.
