Wheaton House Uninhabitable After Fire

No one was injured in a fire in the 100 block of Madison in Wheaton on Tuesday afternoon. Wheaton Firefighters arrived on the scene at 12:52 p.m. and identified a fire in the basement of a single-family residence with some extension to the first floor. The fire was brought under control within 30 minutes, a written press release stated.

The home sustained both smoke and water damage.

Wheaton Fire Department investigators and the DuPage County Fire Investigation Task Force conducted the fire investigation. The cause of the fire is undetermined, and damage estimates are unavailable at this time.

Wheaton Fire Department was assisted by several fire departments from neighboring communities.
