91-Year-Old Yorkville Man Drowned In Fox River: Coroner

Joseph H. Sperry was found in the Fox River behind his home and died from injuries commonly associated with drowning, officials said.

YORKVILLE – A 91-year-old Yorkville man has been identified as the person found floating in the Fox River on Wednesday, Kendall County officials announced on Thursday.

Joseph H. Sperry was found unresponsive in the river at 11:48 a.m. on Wednesday behind his home in the 100 block of East Hydraulic Avenue in Yorkville, the Kendall County coroner said.

An autopsy conducted on Thursday said that Sperry died from injuries consistent with drowning, the coroner said. Final autopsy results are pending further investigation, including toxicology results, the coroner said.

The coroner said that no further information is available at this time. Yorkville Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
