It Takes a Village No-Kill Animal Rescue in Evansville to Move to New Building (wkdq.com) — Evansville’s It Takes a Village no-kill animal rescue is preparing to move from its longtime Stockwell location into a larger building on Oak Grove Road, expanding space for local dogs and cats. After years of searching, the team expects to finalize the purchase in February and hopes to relocate by summer or fall, with residents encouraged to watch Facebook for donation opportunities.

2. Former Vanderburgh councilor will now have a vote in CenterPoint cases (courierpress.com) — Evansville-area residents facing steep CenterPoint utility bills will soon have a local voice on the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission, as former Vanderburgh County Councilor Bob Deig has been appointed to the powerful rate-setting body. His January 12 start comes after years without Evansville representation and amid widespread frustration over recent double-digit bill increases across Southwestern Indiana.
3. Ivy Tech Evansville Dual Credit Teacher at Southridge High School Wins Statewide Award (city-countyobserver.com) — An Ivy Tech Evansville dual credit instructor based at Southridge High School has earned the 2025 statewide President's Award for Excellence in Instruction, spotlighting the local campus’s impact. Evansville’s own Nancy Lockyear and Newburgh’s Neena Tresa John were also honored for teaching excellence, underscoring the strong regional role Ivy Tech Evansville plays in students’ lives.
4. EPD: Driver Who Fled at High Speed Failed to Yield to Fire Truck, Faces Charges (14news.com) — Evansville police say a 23-year-old man led officers on a high-speed chase along Morgan Avenue Friday afternoon, allegedly passing cars in oncoming lanes and failing to yield to an emergency fire truck. The driver was stopped near a Morgan Avenue shopping strip and booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail on resisting law enforcement and reckless driving charges.
5. Driver Charged After Two-Vehicle Crash in Gibson County (14news.com) — A serious two-vehicle crash in Gibson County sent one person to an Evansville hospital with significant injuries Friday night. Deputies say the other driver, a 25-year-old Mount Carmel man, was arrested at the scene on a charge of operating while intoxicated causing serious bodily injury as the investigation continues.
