Here are the top three stories today in Lafayette:

  1. Armstrong Park will be undergoing several improvement renovations throughout the rest of the year. Upgrades will include a new playground, new surfaces for tennis and basketball courts, new bleachers, and seeding for all three baseball fields. New bleachers are coming to the Armstrong Park baseball plaza, and baseball Field Two will have an irrigation system installed. The new playground will "more than double" the size of the current playground. (Journal & Courier)
  2. A teacher at Edgelea Elementary School has been removed from the classroom, according to a statement from Lafayette School Corporation Superintendent Les Huddle. The teacher was removed due to an investigation of the teacher's "methods." This decision comes after a parent spoke at last Monday's school board meeting and expressed concern about the teacher. However, Huddle said the School Corporation was aware of the allegations the prior week. (WLFI)
  3. The second annual Community Baby Shower had a good turnout with 150 attendees. The event was hosted by the Tippecanoe County Health Department for mothers who are currently pregnant or have recently given birth. Event Coordinator Aubrey Kitchel explained that the event was designed to connect mothers to local services, with 40 vendors providing information and resources. (WLFI)
