1. ‘More cats than we could ever provide resources for,' What's the solution? (ourquadcities.com) — Davenport’s Humane Society of Scott County is overwhelmed with more than 2,400 cats this year and is now talking with the city about changing its leash law for cats. With help from Kansas City’s Trap-Neuter-Return model and monthly transfers, local leaders are exploring TNR as a more humane way to curb free-roaming cat overpopulation without relying solely on crowded shelters.

2. 3 QC men arrested in November shooting in Davenport (ourquadcities.com) — Davenport Police have arrested three young men after shots were fired at an occupied vehicle near West River Drive and Harrison Street, damaging both the car and a nearby apartment building. The suspects, two from Davenport and one from Rock Island, now face felony charges and remain in Scott County Jail on cash-only bonds with hearings set for Dec. 23.
   

3. Davenport teen uses massive Christmas display to collect Legos for kids at Stead Hospital (kwqc.com) — A 16-year-old on Davenport’s west side has turned his family’s yard into “Brayden’s Winter Wonderland,” using a giant Santa display to collect Lego donations. Visitors can drop off Legos on North Utah Avenue through year’s end, helping support kids served by the Iowa City Center for Disabilities and Development at Stead Hospital.
   

4. Bella Buttons Toy Drive delivers holiday cheer to Davenport kids (wqad.com) — Hundreds of Madison Elementary students in Davenport just received wish-list toys thanks to the Bella Buttons Toy Drive, created in memory of Elijah Jones’ sister and father. Supported by community donations, the effort has grown from serving a few grades to nearly 600 kids, and organizers are already planning to expand to another school next year.
   

5. Iowa sues Roblox as lawmakers push new online child safety bills (kwqc.com) — Iowa officials, in a case announced from Davenport, have joined several other states in suing Roblox over alleged child safety failures and online exploitation risks. The piece also highlights new bipartisan federal bills on online child protection and offers practical Homeland Security tips Davenport parents can use to keep kids safer on games and apps at home.
