Backed by a federal grant and part of a broader safety action plan, city leaders say more traffic-calming projects are coming as data pinpoints the most dangerous streets.

2. New downtown OP farmers' market pavilion taking shape. When will it open? (johnsoncountypost.com) — A new enclosed farmers’ market pavilion and Clock Tower Landing in downtown Overland Park are on track to open for the 2026 market season, with construction expected to finish next spring. 3. Officials urge caution with lithium batteries after destructive local fires (kctv5.com) — An overnight lithium battery fire in Overland Park destroyed a family’s garage and has fire officials warning residents to be extra cautious with battery-powered devices at home. They say incidents are rising and can turn into fast, explosive fires, urging people to follow charging instructions, watch for damaged batteries, and call 911 rather than trying to fight a lithium fire themselves.

4. Rachel Kaseff and Alex Worth (kcjc.com) — An engaged couple with deep ties to Overland Park is planning an August 2026 wedding in Kansas City, Missouri. Both families include Overland Park residents, and the bride and groom work locally at Jewish community organizations based in Overland Park, underscoring the city’s role in their lives and careers.

5. Kansas City 7-OH manufacturer & seller responds to state, federal investigations amid calls for bans (kshb.com) — Overland Park and Johnson County emergency responders are seeing more calls tied to the synthetic product 7-OH, even as its leading Kansas City-area manufacturer defends it as a safer opioid alternative.
