  1. Bowling Green's U.S. 31-W Bypass is set for significant changes as a project plans to repave and reconfigure a section of the road. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 3 intends to transform it from a four-lane road to a three-lane road with a center turn lane. The project, which starts on Sunday night, will involve lane closures over the next few weeks and includes improvements such as wider travel lanes, bike lanes, reduced pedestrian crossings, and new signal configurations at intersections.   2. Houchens Food Group, headquartered in Bowling Green, has agreed to pay $50,000 and provide other relief to settle a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). The lawsuit states that female employees at a Pic-N-Sav grocery store in Evergreen, Alabama, faced frequent and unwelcome sexual touching by a regular customer, with the company failing to take timely action to address the harassment.   3. Sports betting will soon be available to Kentuckians as the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission approved regulations for it. Retail locations will open on Sep. 7, followed by mobile applications on Sep. 28. The initiative aims to provide entertainment and generate revenue for the state to support various projects. Licensed horseracing facilities can now apply for retail sportsbooks and partnerships with mobile wagering platforms. (WBKO)
  4. A woman from Bowling Green, Cinthia G. Rangel, has been indicted for her alleged involvement in a hit-and-run car accident near Warren Central High School's football field. The indictment includes charges of assault, criminal abuse, leaving the scene of an accident, criminal mischief, driving under the influence, and other violations. The incident occurred in January 2022, when Rangel's vehicle lost control, crashed into a ditch, and caused injuries to two juveniles who were found at her residence. Rangel is scheduled to appear in court on Jul. 24. (WBKO)
