Here are the top three stories today in Bowling Green:
- The Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce has won its third consecutive Mac Conway Award. This award is given to U.S. economic development organizations based on corporate job creation and capital investment data. In 2022, the local chamber completed 11 economic development projects in South Central Kentucky. The Bowling Green Chamber is one of 20 organizations to receive this national recognition. (WKNY)
- The Kentucky Museum will be honoring the region's musicians in an upcoming exhibit called "Sonic Landscape." The exhibit is set to open in the fall of 2024 and will feature local artists such as Hogan, Bush, Cage the Elephant, and the Kentucky Headhunters. The coming exhibit is a result of a partnership between the Kentucky Museum and the Kentucky Folklife Program at Western Kentucky University and is funded in part by a $75,000 grant from the Bowling Green Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. The exhibit will be interactive and will include audio and video productions. (Bowling Green Daily News)
- Cultivate Kindness, a local nonprofit organization, is hosting a prom for "differently-abled" teens and adults this Sunday. The event, called "Be the Light Prom," will take place at the Hidden Homestead beginning at 6 p.m. and aims to make the fun energy of a traditional high school prom more accessible to attendees with sensory or mobility issues. This event was created as a tribute to McKenzi Loid, who was passionate about helping disabled students at her school. Walk-ins are welcome, or attendees can RSVP by emailing CultivateKindnessForKenzi@gmail.com. (WBKO)
