  1. Bowling Green police conducted a patrol stop on a black Dodge truck parked at a Western Kentucky University parking lot. Christopher Upton provided identification and drove away before the officer returned to the truck. The next day, Upton was found exhibiting suspicious behavior at Crown Apartments. A search of the truck uncovered M-30 pills (suspected fentanyl) and 5 grams of methamphetamine. (WBKO)
  2. Bowling Green will soon have a new wine tasting room as Paducah's Purple Toad Winery plans to open a location at the intersection of Hunts Lane and Cemetery Road. While Purple Toad already sells its products in local stores, the tasting room will offer unique flavors exclusive to the location. The Dossey family, with strong ties to Bowling Green, chose the city for its growth potential and personal connections. The new tasting room is expected to open in the fall of 2024. (wnky.com)
  3. Bowling Green holds a connection to the legendary singer Tina Turner. According to the Historic RailPark and Train Museum, Turner and other renowned Black entertainers used to stay at the Southern Queen Hotel in the city's Shake Rag district. The hotel played a significant role in providing accommodation to Black travelers who faced discrimination elsewhere. The city commission decided to preserve this historic landmark, which served other notable guests like Ray Charles, Chuck Berry, and the Harlem Globetrotters. (wnky.com)

  • In collaboration with the Warren County Public Library, LifeWorks at Western Kentucky University unveiled a library specifically designed for the neurodiverse community. This satellite location provides a comprehensive range of resources, including books, DVDs, magazines, audiobooks, and online materials like streaming applications.
