Here are the top three stories today in Bowling Green:
- Tyson Foods will be giving back to the Bowling Green community by giving away 40,000 pounds of chicken to area residents. The event will be held this Saturday, May 20, at 8:00 a.m. at the WKU Innovation Campus on Nashville Road. The first 1,000 attendees will receive a 40-pound box with assorted cut chicken pieces. Plant Manager Brian Wikel said that "care" is one of Tyson's "five Cs," and this event is a chance to be a positive force in the community. (WKNY)
- The Bowling Green Area Convention & Visitors Bureau is welcoming a new communications director. Lauren Guess, a Bowling Green native, is set to direct all levels of public relations and social media for the bureau. She has extensive experience in the field of communications and has worked in both leading and supporting roles for multiple organizations. Guess is excited to bring her expertise to her hometown as she works to promote the city as a travel and leisure destination. (The Lane Report)
- Gov. Andy Beshear will be in Bowling Green today, May 19, as he makes a stop on his statewide bus tour. Beshear is set to be at Spencer's Coffee at 5:30 p.m. where he will meet with local residents and speak about the upcoming election. If you'd like to attend, click here to register. (WKNY)

- The Bowling Green Kiwanis Club soap box derby race is happening today, May 19, and tomorrow, May 20, at Phil Moore Park! This year marks the 25th year of the big race, and local winners will go on to compete at the world championship race happening this summer in Akron, Ohio. (WNKY)
