How did you get into the insurance industry?

I started in the insurance industry when we had our first child on the way. I wanted a career that would provide for my family and help those in my community protect their assets and personal interests. Insurance was the perfect fit! I was taken under the mentorship of an agent that had been in the industry for over 30 years and I've never looked back.

What’s the most rewarding part of your job?

Helping my clients understand and choose the coverages that are right for them. There isn't a "one size fits all" approach for everyone in terms of their risk to exposure, so every policy is different and tailor made to suit their needs.

What’s something you wish everyone knew about insurance?

For most people, I think it's easy to look at insurance as just another bill that you have to pay. That changes when you suffer a loss and rely on your carrier to restore you. Proper coverage matters and insurance policies are the things that can meet your financial needs in some of the hardest situations you can find your self in. Nobody likes to think of their house burning down or the loss of income from a loved one's untimely death, but the reality is that those things happen and insurance can help to make you financially whole again.

What's something you wish everyone knew about working with a local agent?

Having a local agent should bring the peace of mind that the relationship you develop with them over the years allows the agent to invest time and care into you and your family's well-being. Every interaction has the opportunity to be a consultation that is personal and not treated like ordering off of a menu in a drive through. That's something you won't get from a call center interaction.

It really is the client and agent interaction that should help to uncover and consider what exactly you want your insurance to do for you should you have a loss.
