A city-commissioned study and local group Lexington for Everyone highlight slow zoning processes, high construction costs, and limited land, while city leaders say they’re offering incentives, grants, and loans and want residents’ input on solutions.
   

3. KY Man Accused of Throwing Rock at Ambulance, Injuring Driver (jems.com) — A Lexington man is jailed after police say he threw a rock through a moving ambulance’s driver-side window near Newtown Pike and New Circle Road, injuring the driver. The Georgetown-Scott County EMS unit was returning from Lexington, and court records indicate the suspect was already wanted in a separate Newtown Pike case involving objects thrown at vehicles.
   

4. Even Indiana-Kentucky basketball rivalry couldn't resist HeisMendoza chants (indystar.com) — A packed Rupp Arena in Lexington got swept up in Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza’s Heisman Trophy win, with Hoosier fans chanting “Heis-Mendoza” during Kentucky’s 72–60 basketball victory. The game marked the first regular-season meeting between IU and UK in 14 years, as Indiana fans celebrated their top-seeded football team’s historic postseason run even while leaving Lexington with a hoops loss.
   

5. Lexington Jewish community stands together after deadly Hanukkah attack in Australia (fox56news.com) — Lexington’s Jewish community gathered downtown to light the first Hanukkah candle just hours after a deadly attack at a celebration in Australia, emphasizing unity and resilience. Local leaders, joined by messages from state and national officials, framed the menorah lighting at the government building as a defiant stand against antisemitism and a commitment to hope over fear.
