Support Needed From Senator Rand Paul for Alzheimer's Disease Acts

NAPA Reauthorization Act and the Alzheimer's Accountability & Investment Act

This Holiday season, I am reflecting with gratitude on the progress we have made in the fight to end Alzheimer’s over the past 10 years. I am proud to serve as an advocate for the Alzheimer’s Association, as it’s been inspiring to work with our congressional leaders and witness the significant progress we’ve made together. I am grateful to use my voice as a way to honor my grandmother, Grace Schifano and help advance our fight against Alzheimer’s and all other dementia. My grandmother succumbed to the disease when I was in elementary school. I have many great memories of her but looking back, a lot of what I can remember is the Alzheimer’s and not the true spirit of gram that the rest of my family experienced. I also witnessed how the disease affected my whole family and how hard it was on my father especially. I am now a medical student and involved in Alzheimer’s research so I can make a difference and help patients and families that are faced with Alzheimer’s disease in the future as a physician.

We must build on the progress made over the past decade by renewing Congress’ commitment to Alzheimer’s through two critical pieces of legislation, both of which will ensure our country continues to address this disease and increase our investment in research. Please join me in asking our Representative Rand Paul to cosponsor and support the passage of the NAPA Reauthorization Act and the Alzheimer’s Accountability & Investment Act. It’s important to me that he prioritizes this disease so research that I am witnessing in the medical field first hand can continue so steps to find a cure for Alzheimer’s can move forward.

These acts will keep a spotlight on Alzheimer’s and dementia research, care, and support. To continue our momentum in the fight to End Alzheimer’s and all other dementia, we need Senator Rand Paul to show his support for these bills. I am thankful for Congressman Paul’s consideration on these important bills and wish him a happy and healthy Holiday season.
