Where you can dispose of your Christmas tree in Louisville, southern Indiana (wlky.com) — Louisville residents can recycle or dispose of real Christmas trees at several city drop-off sites from Dec. 26 through Jan. 17, or set them out with regular yard waste collection. Locations also serve nearby southern Indiana and Floyd County, but all trees must be completely undecorated before curbside pickup or drop-off.

Wayside Christian Mission hosts Christmas feast for Louisville's homeless (wdrb.com) — Louisville’s Wayside Christian Mission spent Christmas Day serving full meals and companionship to people experiencing homelessness at Hotel Louisville, with breakfast, lunch, dinner, and even a dance party. Volunteers started before dawn, offering hot food, entertainment, and boxed dinners and a parking-lot cookout so guests could celebrate the holiday with dignity and community.
   

3. Mysteries, music and magical insects: The most joyful LPM stories of 2025 (lpm.org) — Louisville Public Media is celebrating some of 2025’s most joyful local stories, from the Louisville Rail Ridaz skate club keeping Black skate culture alive to the relaunch of Curious Louisville solving quirky city mysteries. The roundup also spotlights Newburg community leader Ms. Vernita, evolving music traditions, and new tools for tracking opioid settlement spending across Kentucky communities.
   

4. Tracking holiday prices: Gas, Christmas hams and last-minute gifts (whas11.com) — Louisville drivers and flyers are seeing some holiday relief, with metro gas averaging $2.57 a gallon and smooth operations at Muhammad Ali International Airport as more than 100,000 travelers pass through. Local ham prices sit slightly below the national average, while last-minute shoppers say they’re still feeling higher costs but are budgeting carefully to finish Christmas preparations.
   

5. Health expert advises caution with children's toy batteries (wpsdlocal6.com) — A safety expert at Norton Children’s Hospital in Louisville is warning families about the dangers of small button batteries in toys and household gadgets, especially around the holidays. She urges caregivers to inspect battery compartments, look for ASTM safety labels, and pair wheeled toys with helmets and protective gear to prevent serious injuries.
