McGarvey calls for federal investigation into Louisville senior apartments (wdrb.com) — More than 200 low-income seniors at American Village Apartments in Louisville’s Jacobs neighborhood are at the center of a push for a federal investigation into alleged unsafe living conditions. Rep. Morgan McGarvey says he’s personally seen infestations, rodents, cockroaches, and mold, and is urging HUD to step in over possible violations affecting vulnerable Louisville residents.
   

2. Germantown woman fights new Metro ordinance threatening miniature horse (wave3.com) — A Germantown resident in Louisville is fighting a new Metro ordinance that could force her to move Bandit, the miniature horse her neighborhood has loved for more than a decade. The rule now requires miniature horses to live on at least one acre, putting Bandit’s 0.2-acre home at risk as neighbors rally with a petition and prepare for a January 7 court hearing.
   

3. Krampus comes to Louisville with folklore, artistry and a growing community (lpm.org) — Louisville’s growing Krampus community is turning a once-frightening Alpine legend into a creative local celebration filled with art, music, and elaborate costumes. Organizer Steve Vessell explains how the Louisville Krampus Celebration took root here and what it means to join Light Up Louisville next year, plus how residents can plug into this offbeat holiday scene.
   

4. Former CAL football player delivers holiday hope to kids at Louisville Hospital that treated him (wlky.com) — An 18-year-old Christian Academy of Louisville graduate and cancer survivor returned to Norton Children’s Hospital in downtown Louisville on Christmas Eve to donate PS5 consoles to kids undergoing treatment. Inspired by his own care there in 2023, he and his family launched the “Grit like Britt Foundation” to support pediatric cancer patients and bring some joy to local families facing long hospital stays.
   

5. Study conducted by Norton, Bellarmine students shows ballet helps with Parkinson's disease (wlky.com) — Louisville residents with Parkinson’s are finding relief through a special ballet class at the Louisville Ballet School, where Norton doctors and Bellarmine University students tracked improvements in balance, gait, and tremors. Participants say the twice-weekly sessions boost both physical and mental well-being, and Norton plans to expand the program in 2026 with a new session starting in January.
