Neighbors near Germantown are rallying with petitions and support as owner Susan Bruner prepares for a Jan. 7 court date, while Metro Council members review how the rule change slipped into the legislation.

2. LMPD to focus crime reduction efforts in the California neighborhood (wave3.com) — Louisville Metro Police say homicides are down 21% this year and non-fatal shootings are down 27%, and they’ll shift extra crime-fighting resources to the California neighborhood in 2026. The department credits its targeted “Sustained Focus Improvement” zones and plans more technology, investigators, and patrols, while preparing to release body camera footage from two recent police shootings.

3. Travelers prepare for busy holiday season at Louisville airport (wlky.com) — Holiday air travel is surging at Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport, with more than 104,000 departure seats scheduled through Jan. 4 and officials urging passengers to arrive two hours early and pre-book parking. Families are flying into Louisville from as far as North Dakota and Peru to reunite with loved ones, packing local homes and highlighting how busy the city’s airport will be this season.

4. ‘Boxes Of Love' serves holiday cheer to thousands this holiday season (wave3.com) — Downtown Louisville volunteers turned Fourth Street Live into a holiday packing line, assembling 1,600 “Boxes of Love” meal kits for local and southern Indiana families. Supported by Metro United Way, Ford, Meijer, and city leaders, the long-running effort delivers hams and pantry staples to neighborhood distribution sites so more residents can enjoy a joyful holiday meal.

5. What's Good: Hospital staff provide Louisville boy with Taylor Swift party surprise (wave3.com) — A Louisville family is celebrating that 12-year-old Swiftie Henry Hinson is home for Christmas after a life-threatening illness and weeks in intensive care.
