The future of Shreveport is looking bright, thanks to the incredible young people working to strengthen our community. In partnership with T-Mobile, Patch is proud to spotlight future leaders like Katie Green, who are making a positive impact in and around Shreveport.

Katie, a senior at Plain Dealing High School in Shreveport’s Bossier Parish, has been awarded the prestigious 2024 Willis-Knighton Community Service Scholarship. This $2,500 scholarship, presented annually to two exceptional seniors from Caddo and Bossier Parishes, recognizes students for their academic excellence and dedication to community service. Katie, who has maintained a stellar 4.20 GPA and A-Honor Roll status throughout high school, was honored during Bowl Week in December 2024.

Katie’s accomplishments extend beyond the classroom, where she holds leadership roles such as President of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Student Council and Yearbook Club, as well as Vice President of the National English Honor Society. She also showcased her passion for giving back through her volunteer work with the AHEC Summer Program, where she supported nursing home residents and assisted healthcare staff, as well as through her involvement with Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Bossier Parish Courts of Praise and local fire districts. Katie’s outstanding achievements and dedication to service have also earned her a nomination for the Virginia K. Shehee Most Influential Young Woman Award.
