What makes your dad extra special?
It is challenging to write this without tears, as my dad transitioned from this earth this year. But he is everything. My daddy, an ordained minister, community advocate and entrepreneur, is a well of wisdom, intellect, love and spiritual gifts. He loves me unconditionally and accepts me just as I am. He is super supportive of me and my endeavors and believes in me as much as or more than I believe in myself. He always reminded me that I am a leader and must conduct myself as such. He refers to us as "peanut butter and jelly," because he says, "One of us is no good without the other." That is the impenetrable bond we have. The best advice that he gave me is, "Be careful who you let in your house," which is not only referring to one's physical house, but also to one's circle or the company one keeps. My daddy, Curtis C. Lassiter, is EVERYTHING. God truly broke the mold when he made him. I love you forever, Daddy. Happy Father's Day.
Why do you feel your dad deserves the spotlight?
Not only is he super supportive of me and my endeavors, my dad cared for the community and worked toward efforts for improving the community for future generations — community safety and cleanliness improvement, etc. He is giving, caring, sharing, the absolute best. Though he transitioned from earth this year, he still deserves recognition.
