Bombers Hang On To Claim Their First NLFA Championship

Bossier City, Louisiana – It came down to the final 2 minutes, but the Bombers managed to hold to a 2-point win over the defending champion Lumberjacks.

Seemingly, the Bombers maintained a comfortable 14-6 lead throughout the game but found themselves trailing 14-20 in the third quarter.

This was until running back Trae Richardson scored on a 25-yard run to tie the game at 20 each mid-way in the fourth. The Bombers then used their momentum to capitalize with a successful two-point conversion making it 22-20.

The Bombers defense held strong forcing the Lumberjacks into a punting situation that led to a 25-yard return by Dre Taylor giving his team a decent field position.

With time winding down, the Bombers only needed two consecutive first downs to put the game away, but the Lumberjacks defense had other plans forcing a turnover on downs denying the Bombers 1-yard for the first.

The time now against the Lumberjacks, quarterback Derrick Banks Jr. made a final attempt to lead his team to victory but fell short after two plays as time expired on a second down pass completion to wideout Marvin Carter ending the game as the ball was being spotted.

For the Bombers, this makes their third NLFA Championship appearance and their first title won. As for the Lumberjacks, they were seeking a back-to-back title run in their second matchup against the Bombers for the NLFA Championship.
