A man reportedly has pleaded guilty to driving while drunk and causing a crash that killed three young children.
OXON HILL, MD -- A man has pleaded guilty to driving drunk and causing a crash that killed three children and left their parents with critical injuries, according to a report.
The Washington Post reports that Thomas Daniel Hawks admitted drinking 10 beers at a Washington Redskins game Dec. 30 before his Chevrolet Silverado smashed into the rear of a Honda Accord on Indian Head Highway at a speed of 70 mph, 25 mph faster than the speed limit. The Mejia family had just left church.
The crash ripped the roof off the Accord and sent the Silverado airborne, with the front wheels of the truck landing on the backseat of the Accord, killing 5-year-old twins Alexander and Rosalie, as well as 1-year-old Isaac, with parents Alexis and Juana surviving with severe injuries, the report states. Hawks, 27, was uninjured.
