Prince George's Animal Shelter Sets New Hours To Encourage More Adopters To Visit

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — As animal shelters find themselves bursting with pets in desperate need of a forever home, the Prince George's County Animal Services Facility and Adoption Center has changed its hours to make connecting with the shelter's animals easier.

Jeff, a German Shepherd dog mix age 2; Saint, a Labrador Retriever mix age 12; Rocky, a Labrador retriever age 5 months old; Sapphire, a Catahoula Leopard Hound mix age 1 year; and MJ, a female Cane Corso age 2 years, are just a few of the adoptables awaiting their forever home at the Prince George's County Animal Services Facility and Adoption Center.

Starting this Sunday, the shelter's new hours:

• Tuesday through Friday 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.
• Saturday 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
• Sunday 12 p.m. - 4 p.m. (open for stray animal intake and return to owners only on Sundays)

"This change will give our future adoptees more flexibility to visit with our shelter pets during the evening hours," said David Fisher, associate director of the animal services division at the shelter.

• Last walk-through one hour before closing: 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday; 3 p.m. Saturday
• Last interaction 45 minutes before closing: 6:15 p.m. Tuesday through Friday; 3:15 p.m. Saturday
• Last person in the building 15 minutes before closing: 6:45 p.m. Tuesday through Friday; 3:45 p.m. Saturday
